Aims of the meeting
- Discuss and share good practice around strategies for ensuring and embedding sustainable, transformational change
- Explore the importance of measuring impact as part of ensuring sustainable change
- Discuss and share emerging outputs in the context of sustainability
- Share progress and activities
Pre-meeting activity
For the Marketplace activity (see agenda below), project teams are asked to bring with them a tangible output which they feel will be of wider benefit to others. This could be for example a tool, case study, lesson learned, model, evidence, transformation story etc. These will be displayed on the day so that others can look at them and discuss. We would also like people to have the opportunity to look at these in advance so please add this output as an output in the Design Studio* before the 4 May 2010. *Please ensure as you upload your output to the Design Studio you include a short description of what the output is, who is it for, and how they might use it.*
For the sustainability activity, each project team will be asked to pitch their ideas for sustainability and embedding in turn within groups in a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style activity. The Dragons will represent a senior manager within your institution, and a curriculum lead from another department. The aim is to persuade these Dragons to sustain your project products / processes. All project teams are asked to prepare a 5 minute pitch for the Dragon’s Den session which addresses:
- What you have or will produce that can be sustained, transferred and embedded post-funding
- Why is it worth sustaining, and what evidence you have to support this
- Who will be the main beneficiaries and stakeholders
- What steps you are putting in place to ensure that your ‘products / processes’ will be sustainable, transferable and ready for embedding
* Guidance on accessing the Design Studio and uploading assets Please contact Lou (lou.mcgill@gmail.com) and Marianne (marianne.sheppard@northumbria.ac.uk ) if you need any advice and assistance.
