Course Data Stage 2 University of Sussex
The overall aims of the Course Data project at the University of Sussex are:
- to improve the information that we provide to students and prospective students
- to support an on-going radical overhaul of degree programmes at the University
To achieve this, we need to streamline our course data processes. We will extend our existing web-based Course and Module Design tool and we will streamline the approvals process by building an Online Workflow Approvals tool. The project will support students' decision-making by providing automated creation of two important data feeds – the Key Information Set (KIS) and XCRI-CAP v1.2.
Objectives
Streamline course data processes
- Further develop the Course and Module Design tool to include support for design of new courses and modules, and the review and modification of existing ones
- support a flexible approvals process for new and revised courses and modules
- build a process to synchronise data with the student system
Provide high-quality information for students and prospective students
- implement and host an XCRI-CAP 1.2 system-generated feed for undergraduate, postgraduate, full and part time programmes
- build an application to deliver the Key Information Set data for KIS collection 2012/13 and beyond
Anticipated Outputs and Outcomes
- Current and prospective students have access to data they need to make important choices and to support them in their study
- Improved flows for Course and Module Approval save staff time and effort and provide consistency across different Schools
- XCRI-CAP and KIS feeds are available
