The AX-S widget provides ‘best of breed’ subject searching to any courses website using XCRI-CAP. It produces a list of courses that includes relevant related courses that might not be returned by standard search mechanisms.

The existing ASAP demonstrator provides a weighted subject search facility based on an extensive thesaurus of terms. The thesaurus is mapped to a number of vocabularies and keyword lists commonly used in further and higher education. The proposed new use case uses the AX-S website widget to link the ASAP search function to course related websites, using XCRI-CAP feeds as the data source. The AX-S widget can be added to any XCRI-CAP course related website to provide search results ranked by relevance to the search criteria. It can be integrated within a wider search facility or simply implemented for immediate display.
