Feed Acceptance Criteria
A requirement of the #coursedata projects is the production of a system generated XCRI
-CAP 1.2 feed with a cool URI for institutional course provision, especially part time, online/distance, post graduate and CPD
. The feed acceptance criteria can be found here.
Xcri-Cap demonstration applications
: #coursedata: Making the most of course information – xcri-cap feed use demonstrators, was released on 24-5-12 and aims to fund compelling examples of applications using the xcri-cap feeds, to demonstrate the value of standardised course advertising data.
Xcri-Cap1.2 Validator and Aggregator feed test tools
Contracts have been awarded for test tools to support projects in Stage 2 of the #coursedata call. The validator has been created by Craig Hawker of the Coursedata Consortium, and builds on the excellent xcri-cap1.1 validator. The Aggregator has been built by Knowledge Integration and is based on their existing Open Data Aggregator (ODA), a proven, robust and scalable solution which has already been successfully deployed in large scale systems in the cultural heritage and family information services domains.
The Validator, Aggregator feedmanager and the Aggregator discovery service are available for the life of the programme. The source code will be released with OSS licences to promote further development.
Data Definitions Document and Vocabulary Framework
We have a community derived Data Definitions Document and Vocabulary Framework.
The 'Data Definitions' document gives specific guidance on how each element and attribute should be used. It gives details about structure of the elements, details of the format of data and whether they are optional, preferred or mandatory.
The ‘Vocabulary Framework for Course Data Programme' document provides guidance on the appropriate creation, publication and maintenance of vocabularies for XCRI-CAP 1.2 instances produced via the Programme. Its purpose is to assist publishers of XCRI-CAP vocabularies to provide necessary information, maintenance, format and quality for their users. We envisage that where specific communities of practice emerge, there may be some variations in the detail of content (for example, different vocabularies may be used), within the constraints of XCRI-CAP 1.2.EVENTS

Course Data Development Days
The aim of the event was to support needs of developers implementing xcri-cap feeds in #coursedata projects. The agenda included sessions on the Aggregator and Validator tools, data definitions and an opportunity to discuss technical issues. We also had a lightning talk spot for projects to demonstrate their solutions, or show off some beautiful code.
Monday 2nd April 2012, 14:00-16:00
Validator and Aggregator Demonstration
This session demonstrated how the tools can be used to validate an XCRI-CAP feed, and how to submit that feed to the Aggregator.
The recording is also available from vimeo for those unable to launch Blackboard Collaborate .jnlp files
The Aggregator was also demonstrated at the DEV8D and CETIS 2012 conferences
