Embedding A Vision of Britain through Time as a resource for academic research and learning
At present, A Vision of Britain through Time, a very popular local history web site, is mainly used by amateur historians, but in no way meets academic expectations for an on-line GIS.
The project aims to find out more about academic users’ needs and create a number of new download facilities covering historic mapping, boundary maps and statistical information in order to allow maximum exploitation of the underlying geographical data which is at the core of the web site.
