SPHERE: Stormont Parliamentary Hansards: Embedded in Research and Education
Historical Hansards is an online collection of House of Commons debates of the Stormont Parliament in Northern Ireland, 1921-72. As such, it forms part of a growing collection of Parliamentary papers now available in online format, although it is of special interest to historians as a record of an early experiment in devolution and coalition government within the
UK.
The project will investigate impact and outreach of the “Historical Hansards” to the broader community of stakeholder groups, including library and archive professionals, politicians, the media, and the general public. It will formulate and implement a series of solutions to embed the resource in teaching, learning and research. It is anticipated that these will include improving the way that the user interface serves the broad community of users and the development of specific modules supporting teaching and research methods in a variety of disciplines.
