The challenge of eBooks in academic institutions
Working with key stakeholders in a co-design approach, this report will help define the key challenges institutions currently face in the creation, curation and consumption of ebooks. It will articulate current and emerging solutions to these problems from across the sector.
The report will take an HE institution standpoint that is inclusive and not limited, for example, to the library or to teaching and learning. It will cover all forms of digital books including epub format, online books, etextbooks, wiki-based books, open textbooks, digital monographs, open educational resources and other forms of campus-based publishing.
Project outputs will be expressed not only in re-usable HTML reports but also in an interactive project website and briefing(s). These will be designed to orientate senior institutional managers and support institutions in the effective adoption and deployment of ebooks and ebook technology. This will improve the quality and impact of teaching, learning and research and meet increasing staff and student expectations.
