Bringing Corporate Data to Life
Overview
The project will significantly upgrade the business intelligence capacity of the University of East London in order in enhance our strategic planning processes and to meet the implementation of the new University strategy. It will provide managers with access to a much broader range of information than has previously been available presented in a range of interactive dashboards and scorecards. In addition, it will provide a forecasting capability by allowing us to create a range of ‘what…if’ scenarios particularly for example, the impact on institutional funding and budgets as a result of changes in the funding of HEIs.
Aims and objectives
The aim of the project is to make use of the significant advances in software tools that utilise in-memory technologies for the rapid development of three business intelligence applications (Student Lifecycle, Corporate Performance and Benchmarking). Information in each application will be presented using a range of fully interactive dashboards, scorecards and charts with filtering, search and drill-down and drill-up capabilities. Managers will be engaged throughout the project in terms of how information is presented, the design of dashboards, scorecards and reports and the identification of additional sources of data.
Project methodology
The project is made up of 6 work plans, the three most significant of which relate to the development of a Student Lifecycle, Corporate Performance and Benchmarking BI applications. The three remaining work plans relate to the project management and communication, testing and evaluation and production of the final report.
Gary Tindell will be responsible for overseeing the project supported by Pervin Hussain. His input will extend to specifying the application contents of the applications and designing dashboards with input from Andrew Fisher. Technical support will be provided by Simon Gill supported by specialist advice from David Shelley.
