A series of five small-scale pilot projects and one Study and Synthesis Project in the Enhancing Knowledgement Management strand of the BCE Programme.

Employer Engagement Systems and Process - Small Scale Pilot Projects

A series of five small-scale pilot projects in the Enhancing Knowledgement Management strand:

  1. CEED: To identify the optimum information management solution to support CPD service delivery. To analyse current processes and then trial, for at least two different CPD services, a solution incorporating the use of the corporate student record system and a solution based on local systems using common templates.
  2. CRM4UNI: Creating customised SugarCRM tools and advice for use by Higher Education institutions. Creating a framework for managing relationships with other organisations that allows each HE or FE institution to model its own business processes onto an open standard CRM system which would in turn yield analytic data for the purpose of creating a customised workforce development offering.
  3. EEP: This project looks at ways to improve the continuing professional development learning experience for (especially) large employers, including NHS. This will often involve a learning & development consultant on site at the employers' premises. Tailored solutions are developed, e.g. for employees of one large employer . It was not possible to access standard e-learning materials from the workplace because of business critical security issues.
  4. FutureSkills: Roehampton University collaborating with Thames Valley University (50,000 students), based around what was previously a cluster of Further Education (FE) colleges sites in Ealing, Slough and Reading. Rolling out a CPD platform focussed on creative industries; diverse; micro companies, sometimes with a short life cycle. It is a very dynamic sector and this is exacerbated by fast changing technology.
  5. INLET: The Doncaster College INLET (Industry Network for Learners Employed and in Training) project focuses on real time WBL progress monitoring; facilitating collaboration; developing secure remote access to learner data which should make the process more efficient and reduce the volume of paper created.

The KSA Partnership will work in conjunction with Coventry University on Employer Engagement Systems and Processes - Study and Synthesis - LEEP, to support and synthesise the five pilot projects. The overall aim being to develop an understanding of how employer engagement activity in HE and FE is better enabled and supported by the key processes, systems and infrastructures within and across a range of institutional types. In doing so, the study will take into account the dynamics of the tri-lateral relationship between the provider (the university and/or college), the employer (or sector) and the learner (individual or cohorts of employees engaged in HE level study) to explore how the processes, systems and infrastructures better support the needs of the three primary stakeholders and the interactions and information flows between them.
