Background

The JISC BCE programme was established to support institutions in their strategic management of relationships with external partners and clients and is driven by the Government's agenda to build the knowledge economy.  Initial scoping of the programme was shaped by:

  • the recommendations from a range of JISC studies including the User Needs Study and the Study in the use of publicly-funded IP
  • advice and guidance from the BCE Advisory Group
  • ongoing engagement and informal consultation with key stakeholders in knowledge exchange and transfer
  • internal consultation and investigation into the relevance of existing JISC activity to BCE

The programme comprises of six streams, each of which reflects a core theme focussing on how JISC is addressing key challenges in BCE:

  • Enhancing knowledge management
  • Facilitating collaboration
  • Enabling change
  • Enabling the interface
  • Embedding and communicating BCE
  • Needs analysis and evaluation
