Building Capacity: Leeds Metropolitan University
Institutional Transformation (IT) – through holistic active engagement with JISC at the Strategic, Operational and Tactical level.
IT in the HE and FE sector is an important consideration in the current economic climate where sector differentiation, quality service and information optimisation are key to competitive growth and market satisfaction.
Overview
Transitions in leadership and management, gaps in quality standards and increasing economic pressures provide many challenges to the sector. Solutions are possible when institutions review their concerns holistically, addressing operational, tactical and strategic matters through support from sector bodies such as JISC which provide a range of materials and content gathered from the sector which can be applied creatively to address areas of concern. Additionally, the sector can benefit from the lessons learned from the application of said solutions in new ways. This project looks at addressing
Aims and objectives
The aims and objectives of this project are to address 3 key areas of institutional concern which are being mirrored nationally. They are:
-

-
Better use of Data Mining for Corporate Management Systems to improve business intelligence and drive improved performance measures.
-
Improved employer engagement through the enhancement of 1. and 2. and the development of a system solution for this.
Project methodology
The project is made up of 3 work plans, each addressing a key strategic issue for the institution. Each work plan will look at tactical and operational solutions to address these key issues. Each workplan will review JISC content and materials initially to ascertain the potential for adaptable solutions from content already available, where it does not exist, the workplans will look at new solutions which can be applied to the institution but which have national application for other organisations within the sector that have similar concerns.
