Building Capacity (Wales): University of Glamorgan
This project is designed to enable the University of Glamorgan to use technology to further enhance its curriculum design and delivery. It supports the objectives of the pan-institutional Curriculum Portfolio Review currently being undertaken at the University.
Overview
The University has just completed a review of its learning environment. The review consulted all of the University’s stakeholder groups. The primary outcome of the review concluded that the strides the University has already made needed to be built upon if it is to have a curriculum designed and delivered in a way which meets the demands of the second decade of the twenty-first century. This project is designed to deliver an enhanced curriculum building on good practice in curriculum design and delivery at Glamorgan and across the sector.
Aims and objectives
1) Deliver an innovative academic portfolio fit for purpose in the second decade of the twenty-first century
2) Enhance the Glamorgan curriculum design and delivery process through the use of technology.
3) Ensure that Technology Enhanced Learning, Teaching and Assessment remains a key area of distinctive provision at the University of Glamorgan
4) Identify JISC programmes, projects and products that can be used to impact on changing curriculum design and development.
5) Identify Higher Education Academy Technology Enhanced Learning, Teaching and Assessment guidance relevant to the project
5) Customise the outputs of JISC programmes, projects and products in the context of the University of Glamorgan.
6) Increase academic staff engagement with Technology Enhanced Learning, Teaching and Assessment
7) Evaluate the project, both in its process and outcomes, to capture the learning for the wider sector.
Project methodology
The project will build on the recent VLE review which engaged with all stakeholder groups (students, academic staff, faculty support staff and corporate support staff).

Operational Management of the project will be led by the Head of Technology Enhanced Learning. Operational project meetings will take place each week as part of the TEL Team meetings. Strategic overview of the project will be undertaken by the University’s TEL Steering Group which the Head of CELT Chairs. The Steering Group also comprises the PVC (Learning and Student Support), the Head of Information Systems, the Manager of Blended Learning Services, and includes senior representatives of the faculties. The Steering Group meets termly. During the project it will meet in June, October and January.
