This project will employ the processes and guidance in the Identity Management (IdM) Toolkit to conduct an audit and gap analysis in the context of service provision to users from multiple organisations. This contrasts with the use of the Toolkit to date, which has focussed on IdM for users affiliated to and within single organisations. It will examine the current IdM processes of the UK Data Archive as a Service Provider (SP), the link with an Identity Provider (IdP), and how an SP can support user access to resources by combining both roles. The Archive has a complex role in IdM: Assurance is given to data owners that access to their data is appropriately managed. Ensuring only those users with relevant attributes (identities) are given access. Via single-sign-on (SSO) users are given access to a range of distributed resources.
