This project created an online learning resource on Information Literacy designed to be used independently and as part of a blended learning taught unit at the University of Worcester, to be made available as a repurposable resource via Jorum, on the Information Literacy Group website, and on the project website.
Executive Summary
This project utilized existing materials, repurposed and reworked, and new materials created specifically for the project.
It was found that it was difficult to source good quality interactive online learning material - especially in terms of which are the best places to look, people have very different views on what is interactive online learning material and on quality, therefore there is a need for agreed evaluation guidelines and an overall editor as final arbitrator, there are many issues in terms of getting agreement for re-use, as well as technical issues of downloading and re-uploading material.
The importance of setting realistic timescales for transferring material from one platform to another was identified, as well as a need for clear and specific roles for partners. These should be agreed at the beginning of a project and reviewed regularly – to ensure expectations are well managed.
It is concluded that, despite the difficulties encountered, the repurposing, reworking and reuse of existing materials is an extremely valuable method of creating good quality learning materials quickly and efficiently.
