The project aims to encourage the use of IMS Content Packaging and Management in UK HE and FE.

IMS Content Packaging and Management (JCIEL 31)

Main aim: To encourage the use of IMS Content Packaging and Management in UK HE and FE.

This will be achieved specifically through:

  • Providing an on-line tutorial on IMS Content Management
  • Creating a range of exemplars to show how packaging works and what it is capable of
  • Developing and distributing a Package Editor which will enable early adopters to create and transport IMS packaged material
  • Promoting these activities through active dissemination on-line, at conferences, seminars and workshops and in published work

Activities and Progress

The two major activities, in terms of time and effort, have been the production of an on-line tutorial (incorporating guidelines and exemplars of good and bad practice) and the production of an IMS package editor. Both of these "products" were created through a prototype-evaluation-final product cycle to allow the evaluation to have a major impact on the development.

As the main products of the project are on-line they cannot be included in this report. They can be found at the project web site.

Report available electronically only. Read the final report below.
