The JISC Digitisation programme brochure gives an insight into one of the UK's most innovative e-content creation initiatives.

The JISC Digitisation programme brochure gives an insight into one of the UK's most innovative e-content creation initiatives. Spanning centuries, disciplines and media sources, six pioneering digitisation projects are unlocking a wealth of unique hard or impossible-to-access material from the 18th century to the present day, for the benefit of the widest user base possible within UK further and higher education.

All the projects highlighted in the programme are in production and will start delivering pilot services from autumn 2005. Full services commence from summer 2006 to spring 2007. Whilst all of these will be freely available without subscription, in order to sustain some of them in the medium to long term, they will form part of the JISC collection of online resources incurring an access charge dependent upon institutions’ relevant JISC band.

The programme is funded through a £10 million investment by HEFCE, through the Comprehensive Spending Review 2 and is being managed by JISC.
