This flyer was produced for the AOC conference in 2009 and does not reflect the current status of JISC Services.
JISC Services is the new name for the six JISC Advisory Services operating collectively, from 1st August 2009.
JISC has received world acclaim for the quality of its Advisory Services and the individual Services will continue to provide the same high level of advice and support as well as undertaking new activities under the JISC Services banner.
Each of our Services is unique with no commercial equivalents. Working closely with JISC Regional Support Centres, we provide the UK further and higher education sectors with the expertise, independent advice, guidance and resources required to enable effective and innovative uses of technology. Staffed by experts in their fields, our Services are dedicated to the dissemination of good practice, and can provide help and support tailored to each institution’s specific Information and Communications Technology (ICT) requirements.
TASI (soon to be re-branded as JISC Digital Media) provides advisory and training services that support the further and higher education community. Supporting the sector on the technical issues of creating and using digital media (still and moving images and audio resources) in teaching, learning and research. We assist those who are digitising analogue collections or creating new materials - such as videos and podcasts - to aid student or research activity, advising on how to integrate these media resources into learning materials.
JISC Procureweb is a procurement support service, for the UK higher and further education sectors and Research Councils. Procureweb, funded by JISC, provides a wide range of procurement related tools, information, systems and support to anyone who participates in the procurement process.
JISC Legal provides guidance to prevent legal issues being a barrier to the development and adoption of new ICT within the education sector. We provide high quality, practical support through written publications, multimedia presentations, relevant events, and a short turnaround helpdesk. We dispel myths and misunderstandings about regulation, and promote confidence in compliance.
JISC Netskills provides high quality staff development services. We assist colleges and universities to make effective use of innovative technology for learning and teaching, administration, marketing and other activities. Our flexible and open approach means that all our services can be tailored to meet your specific needs.
JISC infoNet aims to be the UK’s leading advisory service for managers in a fast-changing post-compulsory education sector requiring increasing strategic agility. The service encourages the effective strategic planning, implementation and management of information and learning technology against a backdrop of change in regulation, funding, international issues and organisational change.
JISC TechDis is pleased to add an on-line accessibility toolkit to their advice and guidance portfolio. Developed from comprehensive JISC TechDis Senior Management Briefings, six different self-assessments target key institutional roles. A facilitated on-line session enables you to assess the extent to which practical accessibility has been implemented. This free service gives realtime, anonymised feedback with links to high quality advice and guidance.
JISC Regional Support Centres are multi-disciplinary teams of 6-12 people; they are based in lead institutions in 13 locations throughout the UK and support the building of e-learning capacity in their regions. RSC staff are primarily facilitators and knowledge brokers. By working closely with other RSCs, with access to the wide JISC community, with other national and regional agencies and partners, they are able to provide access to a wide range of services.
