About

The BUFVC Learning on Screen Conference & Awards 2011 will be held at the British Film Institute (BFI) on London’s South Bank on Thursday 24th March 2011. This year, in a break from the traditional two-day event, the 2011 Learning on Screen Conference & Awards will take place within a one-day programme. This is in keeping with the current need to reduce costs, whilst still broadening and enhancing knowledge and teaching techniques.

Learning on Screen Conference 2011

As student fees increase and institution budgets are cut, the need to meet and exceed student learning expectations, without increasing costs, is of paramount importance.

Flexible approaches to teaching and learning, alongside the knowledge and understanding of how to find, use and produce content to create informative and captivating lessons, is key to success both in HE and FE.

The Learning on Screen Conference will focus on the importance and benefits of using moving image and sound in education. Sessions will explore:

  • using moving image and sound to improve teaching and learning

  • meeting student expectations

  • content – finding it and using it effectively

  • production – designing successful educational media

  • controlling and reducing costs.

Learning on Screen Awards 2011

The Learning on Screen Awards celebrate and reward excellence in the use of moving image and related media in learning, teaching and research.

The Learning on Screen Awards are an excellent way to gain recognition within the education sector.  All shortlisted entries will be showcased at the Learning on Screen Awards ceremony at the British Film Institute (BFI) on London’s South Bank on Thursday 24 March 2011 in front of industry professionals and potential viewers.
