Launch of the new Jisc web site

5 February 2003

The Joint Information Systems Committee (Jisc) is delighted to announce the launch of its new web site at http://www.jisc.ac.uk/. Navigating the various areas of the Jisc's activities and responsibilities is now considerably easier, and a new search facility allows information to be accessed with greater precision. Moreover, log-in and personalisation facilities enable customisation, with the option to view preferred pages on entry.

The collections area of the web site contains information about all Jisc collections, while the projects pages can be searched or browsed by keyword or programme. Funding opportunities provides one central information source for obtaining monies from the Jisc, while a new area for advice and guidance highlights information available on a variety of current issues of concern to further and higher education. Subject-based resource guides and user-based guides offer alternative paths to further resources and information.

The site that previously held information about the former DNER has been absorbed by the new Jisc web site, giving a more integrated view of the full range of Jisc activities. This means that collections and many development activities, previously separate from the old Jisc web site, can now be accessed within this new site.

The Jisc web site will continue to evolve and develop over time in response to feedback, so that it can continue to serve the needs of its users within the further education, higher education and research communities.

Feedback, comments or suggestions can be emailed to: webmaster@jisc.ac.uk
