UK animation inspires Australian Access Federation
A sign that the challenges of supporting more complex research and e-learning collaborations are international ones is provided by a newly-launched animation which signals that there are clear parallels between the Australian experience and the challenges being tackled in the UK.
The animation, by the Australian Access Federation, takes its cue from that created by the UK Access Management Federation, released early this year, which also explained the basis for radical developments in the area of access management. These activities are establishing ‘federations of trust’ as a means of supporting wider and more for exciting possibilities for remote collaboration.
The original animation, published under a Creative Commons license, can be repurposed for educational purposes and has also been translated into Spanish and Italian.
Mark Williams, Jisc outreach coordinator, welcomed the launch of the Australian animation, saying: ‘Supporting safe and secure access to resources and providing appropriate access management services for education and research are universal challenges. Collaboration between researchers is increasingly an international issue, just as the publishing industry is increasingly a global one and Jisc is looking at the issues associated with collaboration across national federations through a peering study currently being undertaken.’
