Jisc has been piloting podcasts over the summer with
interviews with leading figures in the education, research, library and
publishing fields and with programmes on topical issues such as Web 2.0 and
repositories.
So far interviewees in the series have included Carwyn
Jones (Speaker of the House in the Welsh Assembly Government), Chris Batt
(Chief Executive of the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council – MLA),
Professor Drummond Bone (former President of Universities UK), Kevin
Guthrie (President of Ithaka) and many others.
Further interviews and programmes are planned in a wide
range of areas of interest in the coming weeks and months, including
repositories, digital preservation, e-learning and access management, among
others.
Hector Peebles, Jisc’s multimedia editor, said:
‘Podcasts are becoming more and more popular in a wide range of contexts,
including education and research, and the popularity of Jisc’s podcasts are
a clear sign of people’s growing enthusiasm. Being able to subscribe to
Jisc podcasts will we think add to their popularity, bringing convenience
and ease of access to a growing number of listeners.’
