Networking opportunities at JISC10 virtual conference

Tag JISC10
Opening the door to international debate, a new social networking area is welcoming people to discuss ‘Technology: at the heart of education and research’ and other topics around this year’s JISC conference.
Join the JISC10 social network to meet other delegates before the event, join discussion groups around the sessions or start up your own group – regardless of whether you’ll be following the event online or in person on 12-13 April 2010.
Grace Porter, JISC events manager, says, “When we listen to what delegates want from the JISC10 conference, one of their priorities is networking opportunities. The social network gives people a forum to talk to each other before, during and after the event, and also helps them make the most of their time at the conference by providing a place to ask questions, arrange meetings and work out who’s coming in advance.”
For those who aren’t able to come to the London event in person, there’s an opportunity to tune in online to watch the live video-streamed preconference debate about 'A perfect vision - Technology priorities for higher education' on the conference homepage on 12 April from 4pm.
The opening keynote by the vice chancellor of the Open University Martin Bean will also be video-streamed on the conference homepage on 13 April at 9.30 am, along with the closing keynote speech by Bill St. Arnaud who is president of St. Arnaud-Walker and Associates Inc at 3.45 pm.
For the first time there will also be a British Sign Language interpreter to sign the keynotes at JISC10 to make them more accessible and the interpreter will also be super-imposed onto the side panel of the livestreamed speeches.
A roving team of expert education bloggers will be writing posts throughout the conference, keeping ‘remote attendees’ abreast of all the latest developments and demonstrations. They will also be interviewing presenters and delegates as the conference unfolds.
You can access the resources highlighted at the conference sessions, demos and surgeries in the virtual goody bag which will be signposted on the conference homepage on the day.
Don't forget to tag any blog posts or tweets you write about the conference with the tag JISC10.
