Marieke Guy was announced as the winner of The Remote Worker Award in a prestigious ceremony to celebrate the Remote Worker Awards at the spectacular Cliveden House in Berkshire on Thursday 10 September.

Marieke Guy was announced as the winner of The Remote Worker Award in a prestigious ceremony to celebrate the Remote Worker Awards at the spectacular Cliveden House in Berkshire on Thursday 10 September.

During the presentations of the other eight categories in the awards, in association with BT Business, Marieke waited to hear the announcement of the unique prize.

Marieke became UKOLN’s remote worker champion in 2008 and also works to improve working conditions for other remote workers.

Marieke said: "I just want to say how ecstatic I am to have won this award. It is incredible to have people appreciate the work I do in this way. I really hope what I've done is useful to others in the same boat, working from home is not always easy. I want thank my employers UKOLN and the University of Bath who have endorsed the work I do and encouraged me throughout. Also thanks to my family and friends who have been great support."

Guests at the awards ceremony celebrated the most innovative companies utilising remote workers and Marieke was favoured for demonstrating how this way of working has made a positive impact on her career and home life.

Along with the honour of winning the award, Marieke walked away with a collection of valuable and beneficial prizes including a Toshiba laptop. As a true remote working hero, Marieke was also surprised and delighted to be presented with The Cliveden House Award, a luxury spa break from von Essen Hotels worth £1,200.

Award winning website Remote Employment Google’s top job site for flexible and home based jobs, launched The Remote Worker Awards in association with BT Business to highlight how home and remote working benefits the British public and their working life.
