Prior to JISC's annual conference, two special events will take place in Edinburgh on 23 March. With limited spaces available, register now to secure your place at one of the popular pre-conference activities, detailed below.
12:30 – 15.45 Monday 23 March: Special pre-conference forum
'Higher Education in a global economy: The implications for technology and JISC'
Hosted by Professor David Baker, Principal, University College Plymouth, St Mark and St John and Vice Chair of JISC, this forum is designed to facilitate discussion concerning the changing higher education environment and the implications for JISC and the academic community. It aims to engage with senior management and policy makers as part of the JISC strategy consultation process.
Its panel of expert plenary speakers includes:
- Rashik Parmar, CTO and Distinguished Engineer, IBM
- Lorcan Dempsey, Vice President and Chief Strategist, OCLC (event sponsors)
- Professor Jeff Haywood, Vice Principal Knowledge Management, Chief Information Officer, University of Edinburgh
- Juliet Williams, Chairman, South West Regional Development Agency
16:15 to 17:45 Monday 23 March JISC Question Time: Student Experiences
Following the forum is JISC’s Question Time-styled event on the Student Experience, chaired by Donald MacLeod, Guardian HE Editor. To ensure balanced views on the subject, the panel includes:
- Professor Sir David Melville, Chairman of the Committee of Inquiry into the Changing Learner Experience;
- Professor Jeff Haywood, Vice Principal Knowledge Management, Chief Information Officer, University of Edinburgh;
- Rob Howe, Head of Learning Technology and Media, University of Northampton; and
- Sue Beck, Student, University of Northampton.
