JISC

JISC’s annual review is published online today. It documents a year of activity and accomplishment in JISC’s key spheres of interest. Including links to audio interviews with outgoing Chair Sir Ron Cooke and JISC Executive Secretary Dr Malcolm Read, it also features a vibrant image gallery and a Year in View providing highlights of JISC’s often pioneering work during the 2007-2008 academic year. 

Among the highlights of the year, covered by the review, are:

• publication of the ‘Google Generation’ report
• launch of the e-books observatory project
• successful transition to federated access management
• two phases of JISC/Ipsos MORI research into the attitudes to ICT of young university hopefuls and 1st year undergraduates
• renewal of funding for the JISC Regional Support Centres
• multinational licensing initiative
• launch of the JANET Lightpath service

In his interview, Sir Ron Cooke remarks: ‘The last year has been an important one and the activities highlighted in our annual review demonstrate our commitment to helping ensure that the UK has the best infrastructure and ICT support possible.’

For Dr Malcolm Read, the annual review documents ‘a highly successful year and a solid foundation for the coming year which will see an updated strategy and a range of activities undertaken in close collaboration with partners, both national and international.’
