JISC’s e-Learning programme champions the development and use of technology to enhance and enrich education and research. The sterling efforts of a JISC-funded project have just been rewarded at the finals of the UK and Ireland’s Regional Learning Impact Awards on September 18.

Scooping third prize at these prestigious awards was the University of Bath’s Racing Academy . This online automotive engineering academy uses cutting-edge gaming technology to give students an opportunity to learn real physics and mechanical engineering in a virtual community. Racing Academy embodies the ethos of JISC’s e-Learning programme, in developing and utilising innovative digital technology to enhance the teaching and learning process.

Project manager Richard Joiner was thrilled with the result, with attention now focusing on 2009's international competition to be held in Barcelona from 11-14 May 2009.
