JISC infoNet award will ‘reward success in records management’

Has your institution recently made significant improvements to the way in which it manages its records or internal information?

Or, have changes to the way in which you manage your records or internal information made a demonstrable difference to the way in which your institution operates? "JISC infoNet ... felt that organising an award which recognises and rewards success in this area would not only give credit where it is due, but also help support further innovation in the future.”

If so, your success could gain further recognition through the inaugural JISC infoNet Award for Innovation in Records & Information Management.

Part of JISC InfoNet’s support for the development of good records management practice within the FE and HE sectors, the new award – sponsored by Facet Publishing - has been established to promote the positive role records management can play in institutional life, and to encourage innovation in the way in which records management issues are addressed.

Steve Bailey, senior adviser at JISC infoNet said: “In the past few years many institutions have taken great strides forward in terms of improving the way they manage their information and records. Many of these projects have now moved far beyond their legal compliance origins and are now delivering other additional benefits to the institution. JISC infoNet have been actively supporting the promotion and development of records management since 2003 and felt that organising an award which recognises and rewards success in this area would not only give credit where it is due, but also help support further innovation in the future.”

The successful project, as selected by an expert panel, will be announced at the JISC Conference on 15 April 2008.
