Countdown begins to JISC’s ‘Innovating e-learning’ online conference

The 2007 JISC online conference, Innovating e-Learning 2007, takes place next week, beginning on 11 June and running until 14 June. The focus of this year’s conference will be on ‘institutional transformation’ and ‘supporting lifelong learning’.

Introducing the programme will be Alun Hughes, chair of the JISC Learning and Teaching Committee while keynote presenters will include Professor Terry Mayes from Glasgow Caledonian University, Dr John Guy, Principal, and Dr Mike Docker, of Farnborough Sixth Form College, and Professor Robin Mason from The Open University. Professor Oleg Liber, JISC-CETIS, will offer the closing keynote.

The programme ranges widely across transformational and lifelong learning topics and includes ten main sessions across the two themes. Session topics include: Understanding the prospects for transformation; an online workshop on Design for learning; Lost in transformation? Caught in the web of change, and Blogging for beginners.

Extras in the Showcase area this year include a discussion on barriers to mainstream adoption of Second Life for teaching and a demonstration of Mind Genius. As this is an online conference, delegates meeting for a virtual chat in the social area could come from across the UK, or from around the world.

The programme will be of interest to delegates in both further and higher education. The conference takes place in an asynchronous environment, making it possible to take part at any time.

Please note that registration closes on Sunday 10 June and the cost per delegate is £50.
