JISC website relaunch

Following an extensive period of consultation, JISC launched its new website yesterday (3rd October). The new site incorporates a number of significant improvements developed on the basis of extensive usability testing.

Improvements include clearer navigation based on the needs of users, much-improved search capabilities and a much clearer design. The new site also includes improved support for RSS feeds, which are now available for news, events, funding opportunities and publications, as well as XHTML and CSS.

Ben Whitehouse, who managed the web project, said: ‘The new site represents much more than a redesign. It required a major rethink of how JISC can better support the communities it serves and how it can best meet its objectives. We hope that the improvements will enhance its use throughout the further and higher education and research communities, and we look forward to receiving feedback on it in due course.’
