Funding agreement ensures JISC's continued support for English post-16 education sector
6 September 2006. JISC announced that it has reached
agreement with the Learning and Skills Councils (LSC) on the LSC’s
contribution to the JISC budget. The agreement means that the following
will be available to those institutions funded by the LSC for the next
three years, including Specialist Colleges:
-
JANET connections
-
support from the Regional Support Centres
-
membership of the UK Access Management
Federation
-
all JISC’s advisory services
-
delivery services at data centres
-
membership of the new JISC Collections content
company
-
access to all current content under existing licensing
agreements
Communications have been sent to all English FE colleges
outlining the level of support JISC will provide to the English post-16
sector.
The funding agreement also means that the LSC will
continue as a member of the JISC Steering Group and have observer status on
the JISC Board, the JISC Committee for Networking and the JISC Committee
for Organisational Support and will also nominate two members onto the JISC
Board. Members of the FE community will in addition be eligible to
nominate themselves to be considered as members of the JISC Committee for
Networking, the JISC Committee for Organisational Support, the JISC
Committee for Content Services and the JISC Committee for Learning and
Teaching.
A Q&A is
available giving further details of the implications for institutions of
the new funding agreement.
A brochure giving further details of the available
services has been sent to all English colleges. If you would like further
copies of the brochure, please contact: publications@jisc.ac.uk
