JISC Online Conference attracts delegates from around the world
Delegates from 16 countries around the world are joining together with colleagues from the UK in the first JISC online conference, which runs from today to Friday (27–31 March).
Innovating e-Learning 2006 is based on the work of the Pedagogy and Innovation strands of the JISC e-Learning programme and opened with a welcome presentation by Sarah Porter, JISC’s Head of Development.
This has proved a very popular event, so much so that registration closed ahead of schedule. Those registered have been able to get familiar with the online environment in advance of the opening day by reading papers, listening to audio-enabled presentations, and postings messages in the social area.
Comments from newcomers to online conferencing have been positive:
‘I’m having great fun with the varying modes of presentations, and I’m glad for the audio. This is my first online conference, and I was curious as to how it would work, but I’m having a blast so far!’
The conference programme contains a range of options under three themes – each with its own keynote speaker – and showcases examples of innovative practice from both higher and further education, selected from responses to the open call.

Highlights from the conference will be posted on the e-Learning Focus website at the close of each theme.
