The National Centre for Text Mining appoints Professor Jun'ichi Tsujii as its new director

National Centre for Text Mining appoints new director

The National Centre for Text Mining (NaCTeM) has announced the appointment of Professor Jun'ichi Tsujii as its new Director. Professor Tsujii is Professor of Computational Linguistics and Natural Language Processing at the University of Tokyo and will spend half of his time at NaCTeM’s headquarters in the University of Manchester, and the rest at the University of Tokyo. Professor Tsujii will also fill the Chair of Text Mining in the School of Informatics at the University of Manchester.

The Centre is the first publicly funded centre for text mining in the world. Jointly funded by JISC, the BBSRC (Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council) and the EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council), its remit is to provide a service for the wider academic community in the field of text mining, contribute to national and international developments and to make connections with industry.
