New publications explain Jisc model licence for e-resources

26 October 2005

The Jisc model licence is applied to all Jisc agreements for access and use of online resources and contains more favourable provisions than any standard commercial licence. Jisc negotiates such licences with publishers on behalf of the UK funding bodies for further and higher education. They contain provisions that allow students and staff to make effective use of online resources for learning, teaching and research.

New publications A Guide to the Jisc Model Licence for Datasets and A Guide to the Model NESLi2 Licence for Journals -  explain in every day terms the definitions used in the model licence and the permitted uses and restrictions.

You may also want to have a look at the article in Jisc Inform issue 10 Making effective uses of Jisc e-Resources, which outlines the benefits of these model licences. This issue of Jisc Inform can be found at: Inform 10.
