Jisc agreement brings Scopus to FE and HE
A Jisc agreement with Elsevier brings a major science database to the further and higher education communities. The special introductory agreement means that institutions will be able to evaluate Scopus, which contains abstracts and references from over 14,000 titles from 4,000 different publishers, for the next two years at discounted prices.
The range of Scopus’s coverage ensures that it has broad disciplinary use, while additional features such as citation information about the articles covered, direct links to full-text articles, library resources and other applications, make the resource of importance as a research and resource discovery tool.
Lorraine Estelle, Collections Team Manager at Jisc, says that the agreement with Scopus ‘provides British universities with the opportunity to take advantage of a major new resource discovery tool at the terms and conditions set out by the Jisc Model License, which allows students and staff to make effective use of resources such as this for learning, teaching and research.’
