It's true - Web 2.0 can make your life easier!
The web is awash with tools and gadgets which promise to make life
easier - from online post-it notes to personalizing your Google home
page. But do they sometimes seem to make life harder?
A new series of Netskills workshops addresses this question directly
by presenting some of the key services currently available and how they can
be harnessed as practical and time-saving tools for all staff in further
and higher education.
Among the tools explored in hands-on sessions arepersonalised sites and search tools, alerting services - including
feeds, podcasts and page tr‘excellent session -

management tools such as calendars and scheduling
tools.
Feedback on the first workshop of the series has been extremely
positive, say Netskills trainers, with comments from delegates such as: ‘It
was brilliant - I will definitely use what I learnt today’; ‘very well
presented course, good overview of content and clear explanations and
examples’; ‘excellent session - well structured, well presented. Yet
another fantastic course by Netskills - thanks!'
The workshop is part of an updated schedule of workshops for the new
academic year by the Jisc-funded service which provides highly-acclaimed
staff development training in a range of technology-related areas.
Helen Conroy, Consultant Trainer, says that Netskills constantly
updates its courses to keep up to date with new technologies and the needs
of the further and higher education communities: ‘This autumn we have
several new workshops lined up across a range of themes. In web
development, “CSS: Techniques, Tips and Tactics” follows on from the
success of the original “CSS: A Complete Web Style Toolkit” workshop and
looks at the application of more advanced CSS for real-world, creative web
design.
‘There are also new workshops in “Federated Access Management” and
Dreamweaver CS3. In e-Learning, new workshops include “Problem-based
e-Learning” and “Creating Dynamic Learning with Dreamweaver”. We'll
also be launching a workshop on podcasting shortly.’
