Awards launched for best in sound and screen
The use of moving images and sound continues to help transform learning, teaching and research.
Marking its 60th anniversary next year, the BUFVC (British Universities Film & Video Council) has announced the 2008 Learning on Screen awards to celebrate and reward excellence in the production and use of moving images and related media in learning, teaching and research.
The Learning on Screen awards ceremony will take place on the evening of 18th March 2008 at the National Science Learning Centre York, as part of the BUFVC’s Learning on Screen conference (17-19 March 2008).
The Learning on Screen awards and conference are held annually. The event is for those developing and using moving image and sound content in learning, teaching and research, and brings together lecturers, researchers, producers, courseware creators, providers and staff developers.
This year’s conference includes the themes ‘Sixty years of moving pictures in Higher Education’, open video content, high-definition moving pictures and user-generated content. There will also be a session for producers to show and discuss their recent courseware, video content, moving image, sound and related media productions.
Murray Weston, Chief Executive of the BUFVC, said: ‘The Learning on Screen awards have become established as one of the highlights of the education calendar, recognising the very best in the production and use of moving images and sound for education and research. As part of the BUFVC’s sixtieth anniversary, next year’s conference and awards will be particularly significant, and we look forwarding to hearing about the very many productions and projects around the country which are demonstrating innovation and best practice in this vital area.’
