Strand A(1): Institutional Research Data Management Infrastructure: Projects to help universities that are at an early stage of developing a research data infrastructure. Projects should scope and develop a pilot research data management infrastructure in an appropriate department(s) of faculty(ies).  Projects should also propose an institutional data management policy, present a business case for sustainability and provide costing information. Total funding of approximately £3M is available for projects in Strand A(1) and (2) to run for up to 18 months

Strand A(2): Institutional Research Data Management Infrastructure: Projects to help universities to embed and extend an existing pilot research data management infrastructure. Strand B: Research Data Management Planning for Projects or Departments. Projects to design and implement research data management plans for specific projects/departments; including supporting systems and tools Total funding of approximately £1M is available for projects to run for up to 6 months.  Funding of up to £100,000 is available for each projects. Proposals requesting less funding are strongly encouraged.

Eligibility

This initiative is funded entirely by HEFCE; JISC’s other funders, the devolved Funding Councils, have not contributed to this investment. For this reason, proposals may be submitted only by English Higher Education (HE) Institutions funded by HEFCE.

HE institutions in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales are not eligible to bid but may be involved as partners in proposals led by HE institutions funded by HEFCE.

Proposals may be from single institutions or consortia. Partnership arrangements may be developed outside the sector (for example with research council sites and data centres, publishers, commercial suppliers), but the lead partner must meet the criteria outlined above. Funds can only be allocated through the lead partner.
