| Strand A: Digitisation for Open Educational Resources (OER) |
Release of digitised educational content for use and re-use on an open access basis through digitisation of special collections and subsequent creation of Open Educational Resources (OERs) for embedding in teaching and learning. |

Mass digitisation of special collections and other analogue material of educational use that meets the needs of, and are of benefit to, learning, teaching and research. |

The deadline for receipt of proposals in response to this call is 12:00 noon UK time on Monday 15th August 2011.
Funding is available for projects starting from November 2011. Please see below for further information about the length of projects and completion dates for each strand.
The JISC is holding an online community briefing event where potential bidders will be given information about the background to the call, its objectives and the bidding process. Attendees will also have an opportunity to ask questions of JISC Executive staff. This meeting will take place on Tuesday 21 June 2011 at 11am. Click here to view the participant link. Bidders are strongly encouraged to attend this briefing, although a recording will be made available after the event. Slides from the online briefing session are available for download below. Please note that slides 16 and 31 have been updated with important information. The online briefing event will take place using Elluminate Live! Bidders are strong advised to view the hardware and software pre-requisites for Elluminate Live!
JISC staff will also be holding telephone based surgery session to discuss potential bids with individual applicants. The days reserved for these are 22nd, 24th and 29th June 2011. Please contact Alastair Dunning or Paola Marchionni in advance to organise a thirty minute telephone discussion.
Eligibility
Proposals to Strands A and C may be submitted by Higher Education (HE) Institutions funded by HEFCE. FE institutions in England that teach HE to more than 400 FTEs are also eligible to bid provided proposals demonstrate work that supports the HE in FE agenda. HE and FE institutions in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales are not eligible to bid but may be involved as partners in proposals led by HE institutions funded by HEFCE or FE institutions in England which meet the criteria outlined above. Proposals may be from single institutions or consortia unless indicated otherwise. Partnership arrangements may be developed outside the sector (for example with research council sites, publishers, commercial suppliers), but the lead partner must meet the criteria outlined above. Funds can only be allocated through the lead partner.
Proposals to Strand B may be submitted by any institution or organisation with collections of significant value to higher education and research in England and Wales. Please see below for further information on Strand B.
