JISC invites institutions to submit funding proposals for projects to be funded through its Digital Infrastructure (DI) programmes. Funding of up to £500,000 (inclusive of VAT and related travel and subsistence) is available for the programme as a whole, which is organised over four streams.

JISC Grant Funding 01/11: Digital infrastructure: Embedding usability & improving the uptake of resources & tools; & enhancing campus-based publications

JISC invites institutions to submit funding proposals for projects to be funded through its Digital Infrastructure (DI) programmes.  Funding of up to £500,000 is available for projects helping to embed usability within institutional practice, develop adaptable and learnable user interfaces for research tools and develop new publishing platforms. 

Bids are invited for projects in these themes

A: Supporting usability practice
  • Develop evidence-based guidance and a resource to support projects in their approach to usability.
  • A single project developing toolkit and best practice.
  • Total Funds: £60,000
B: Usability case studies and practical implementation
  • Projects will develop usability case studies to help inform and build on the work of the usability support project.
  • Up to 10 usability projects will be funded.
  • Maximum funding for a project is £15,000.
  • Total Funds: £90,000
C: Adaptable and learnable user interfaces for research tools.
  • Projects will develop new or improve existing user interfaces for research tools.
  • 5-7 projects will be funded.
  • Maximum funding for a project is £40,000
  • Total Funds: £200,000
D: Campus-based publishing
  • Projects will develop new or enhanced publishing platforms  in partnership with libraries or shared service providers.
  • 5-7 projects will be funded.
  • Maximum funding for a project is £30,000.
  • Total Funds: £150,000
