The JISC invites tenders to conduct a study of the benefits of Open Access (OA) to scholarly research outputs to private sector businesses in the UK. 

The aims of the study are:

  • To present the best evidence available of the benefits of OA to commercial companies.
  • To quantify, where possible, any financial benefits that have accrued.
  • To provide case studies of businesses which have realised benefits from OA.

Total funding of £50,000 (including VAT, travel and subsistence) is available for this project.

The deadline for proposals is 12 noon UK time on Monday 14 March 2011.

It is envisaged that bidders will be notified of the outcome of the evaluation process by the end of March 2011.
The successful bidder will be expected to start work in April 2011.

The study is to be completed by the end of July 2011.
