Grant 04/08: Learning and teaching innovation
JISC invites institutions to submit funding proposals for projects to undertake work under the 6th round of its full Learning and Teaching Innovation Grants Programme.
JISC wishes to fund one year projects and activities that fit with the vision, outcomes and principles of the JISC e-Learning programme and support innovative approaches to learning and teaching. This is an open call, and projects dealing with any aspect of e-learning are welcomed. To reduce the initial investment in time and resource needed to develop a traditional JISC proposal and to encourage speculative and innovative ideas from the community bidders are invited to submit outline proposals.
As with the last round, these outline proposals must be submitted via email. The short form of these initial bids has also been retained and we will be strictly enforcing word limits and content restrictions. Please read the guidance and template in full - bids outside of the required parameters will NOT be assessed.
JISC have run 5 previous rounds of the full Learning and Teaching Innovation Grant funding opportunity in May 2008, September 2008, January 2009, July 2009 and April 2010. In total, the programme has supported 19 projects.
Bids should be submitted to elearning-bids@jisc.ac.uk using the template provided. Letters of support will not be required at this stage.
Funds of up to £50,000 for projects of one year duration are available. JISC has committed at least £1,500,000 for this activity over the life of this programme which commenced in May 2008.
Eligibility
Proposals may be submitted by HE institutions funded via HEFCE, SFC, HEFCW and DEL Northern Ireland, and by FE institutions funded via SFC, DCELLS Wales and DEL Northern Ireland. FE institutions in England that teach HE to more than 400 FTEs are also eligible to bid provided proposals demonstrate how the work supports the HE in FE agenda.
Proposals may be from single institutions or consortia. Partnership arrangements may be developed outside the sector (for example with research council sites, publishers, commercial suppliers), but the lead partner must meet the criteria outlined above. Funds can only be allocated through the lead partner.
The lead institution may only submit one proposal per assessment point.
The next deadline for submissions is 12 noon UK time on Monday 21 March 2011
Briefing event
A briefing event will be held online via Elluminate on Tuesday 22 February 2011 at 2pm. Further details will be on the LTIG Programme page and in the call documentation.
