The Higher Education Academy and JISC invites the submission of funding proposals for projects in the following areas linked to Open Educational Resources:

A (i) OER release meeting sector needs

Projects committing to release a substantial amount of content in the indicated areas.

£2,000,000 (one year projects of up to £250,000)

A (iii) Cascade support in the release of OER

Teams already releasing OER sustainably working with one or more partners to support those new to OER release.

£525,000 (one year projects of up to £75,000)

C (i) Collections of OER based around a thematic area

Projects identifying, collecting and promoting collections of OER and other material around a common theme.

£600,000 (1 year projects of up to £75,000)

Funding is available for projects starting from 31 August 2010 for 1 year. All projects must be complete by 31 August 2011.

The deadline for receipt of proposals in response to this call is 12:00 noon UK time on Thursday 24 June 2010.

Eligibility 

Proposals may be submitted by Higher Education (HE) Institutions funded by HEFCE and Academy Subject Centres. FE institutions in England that teach HE to more than 400 FTEs are also eligible to bid. Institutions in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales are not eligible to bid, but may be involved as partners in proposals led by an eligible institution.

Proposals may be from single institutions or consortia unless indicated otherwise in the relevant call. Partnership arrangements may be developed outside the sector but the lead partner must meet the criteria outlined above. Funds can only be allocated through the lead partner.

Briefing day

The community briefing event was held via the Elluminate online conferencing system. Potential bidders were given information about the background to the call, its objectives and the bidding process. Participants also had an opportunity to ask questions of executive staff.
