JISC ITT: Clarifying the Purpose and Benefits of Preserving Software

JISC invites tenders to further examine the purpose and benefits of employing preservation measures in relation to software, both at the development stage and retrospectively to legacy software. This work will involve cost-benefit analysis activity and requirements gathering.

The primary audience for the outputs of this project will be the varied and numerous groups working within (or in collaboration with) the UK HE/FE community, with a non-exclusive but primary focus towards those working with open-source software.

Total funding of up to £50,000 (including VAT at the prevailing rate, travel and subsistence) is available for this work.

The deadline for proposals is 12 noon UK time on Monday 15th March 2010.

It is envisaged that bidders will be notified of the outcome of the evaluation process in the week commencing 29th March 2010. Work should begin no later than 5th April 2010. The deadline for final deliverables is 30th September 2010.
