JISC ITT Users’ trust in information resources in the Web environment

The JISC invites tenders to conduct a review of existing research into how users place their trust in digital information resources in the Web environment and current approaches to presenting such resources in ways that engender trust. Information resources in this context means both formal (such as journal articles) and informal resources (such as blogs) used in learning, teaching or research.

The specific objectives are to:

  • Review and synthesise the outcomes of research into how users place their trust in digital information resources in the Web environment;
  • Review and synthesise the outcomes of research into the means (whether technical, social or other) by which digital information providers currently engender trust in their resources;
  • Review and synthesise any existing studies into the desirability and feasibility of certifying the authenticity and provenance of digital information resources to the end user, with particular reference to research and learning contexts.

Total funding of up to £25,000 (including VAT, travel and subsistence) is available for this project.

The deadline for proposals is 12 noon UK time on Monday 5th October 2009
