JISC invites tenders to conduct a study on the impact on the research community of the Virtual Research Environments (VRE) programme. The aims of the study are to synthesise the extent to which the VRE programme has made an impact on the UK research community; summarise the programme’s achievements and mistakes and advise the JISC on how best to achieve maximum impact on the community in the field of collaborative research technology in the future.

JISC invites tenders to conduct a study on the impact on the research community of the Virtual Research Environments (VRE) programme.

The aims of the study are to:

  • synthesise the extent to which the VRE programme has made an impact on the UK research community
  • summarise the programme’s achievements and mistakes and advise the JISC on how best to achieve maximum impact on the community in the field of collaborative research technology in the future

Total funding of £75,000 (including VAT, travel and subsistence) is available for this project. The deadline for proposals is 12 noon on 20 February 2009.

It is envisaged that bidders will be notified of the outcome of the evaluation process in week commencing 16 March 2009

The successful bidder will be expected to start work on or around 1 April 2009

The study is to be completed by 31 July 2009.
