The JISC Scholarly Communications Working Group wishes to study the availability of UK academic “grey literature” to UK small and medium-sized enterprises. The study will focus upon a selection of SMEs with known existing academic contacts and investigate their need for access to reports and other unpublished research literature, the ways in which they discover relevant reports, their success in obtaining access to relevant reports, and the value to their businesses of obtaining access to such reports.

JISC Scholarly Communications Working Group wishes to study the availability of UK academic 'grey literature' to UK small and medium-sized enterprises (SME). The study will focus upon a selection of SMEs with known existing academic contacts and investigate their need for access to reports and other unpublished research literature, the ways in which they discover relevant reports, their success in obtaining access to relevant reports, and the value to their businesses of obtaining access to such reports.

The work should begin in early September 2008 and be complete by 30 November 2008. The total funding available for this work is £25,000 inclusive of VAT.

Bidders are invited to submit a project outline with timelines to meet the terms of reference.

The deadline for proposals is 12 noon Friday 25 July 2008
