JISC ITT: Exploration of the role of e-portfolios in formative and summative assessment practices

JISC invites tenders to conduct a study exploring the place of e-portfolios in formative and summative assessment practices in higher education (HE) and in higher education delivered in further education colleges (HE in FE), describing effective practice, highlighting the benefits and challenges of use, and identifying future directions for e-portfolios in assessment in these phases of education.

The main deliverables of the study are a final report with recommendations, examples of practice of assessment practices involving e-portfolios, and where possible, examples of assessment material from institutions and students, with appropriate permissions. The report and examples of practice are intended for the JISC executive as well as the wider community. This report is to be delivered to JISC by 1 December 2008.

Up to £40,000 (including VAT and expenses) is available for the study over a 6-month period starting as soon as possible and no later than 27 May. The deadline for submission of tenders is no later than 12:00 noon on 8 April 2008
