JISC ITT Publisher Metadata and Interoperability Projects 3
JISC invites proposals to undertake projects that help to further develop interoperability between publishers, aggregators and libraries and the JISC Information Environment (IE). The aim of these projects is to highlight and explore the issues surrounding the development of interoperable, metadata-based services offered by publishers based on their electronic publications. The projects are expected to last no more than nine months and to finish no later than 30 November 2008.
The Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC), working closely with the Publishers and Library/Learning Solutions (PALS) Metadata and Interoperability Group, intends to build on the success of an earlier series of projects (the PALS Metadata and Interoperability Projects Phases 1 and 2), by funding a third series: PALS 3 Metadata and Interoperability projects. Details of the proposed project work and background information is set out below. The deadline for proposals is 12:00 noon on Friday 25th January 2008.
Proposals are invited from publishers (including aggregators) and from partnerships between publishers and Further and Higher Education institutions. In particular it is expected that suitable FE and HE partners will include JISC production services and development projects. Further details on relevant JISC services and development programmes can be found in Appendix A.
Total funding of up to £90,000 is available for this initiative. It is anticipated that a number of proposals with budgets of £10,000 - £15,000 will be funded.
