The Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) invites proposals to undertake an investigation into the impact of technology enhanced working on staff in UK Further (FE) and Higher (HE) Education institutions and their working practices. It will examine how the adoption of new technologies and practices has brought about changes in roles and ways of working within the institutional workforce (across teaching, learning, research, administration, libraries and IT services), noting also the effects on the student experience. It will be supported by ten case studies to help illustrate and support the findings.

JISC ITT: Study into Evolution of Working Practices

This study will investigate the impact of technology enhanced working on staff in UK Further (FE) and Higher (HE) Education institutions and their working practices. It will examine how the adoption of new technologies and practices has brought about changes in roles and ways of working within the institutional workforce (across teaching, learning, research, administration, libraries and IT services), noting also the effects on the student experience. It will be supported by ten institutional case studies to help illustrate and support the findings.

Funding of up to £50,000 including VAT and all related travel and substance expenses is available for this project. In addition funding of £10,000 will be paid directly to each institutional case study participant to cover the costs incurred in support of and participation in the study.

The expected start date for the study is Monday 21 January 2008. The study will take place over 12 months.

The deadline for proposals is 1200 hours on Thursday 13 December 2007.
