Managing environmentally sustainable ICT in Further and Higher Education
JISC wishes to commission a study of the management of environmentally sustainable developments in ICT (and associated practices) that take a realistic and strategic approach to the adoption, inclusion and promotion of environmental as well as fiscal requirements, and to produce case studies, supporting tools and a report of findings across the sector. Deliverables include:
- a scoping study of current environmentally sustainable ICT practices in the sector;
- a collection of illustrative case studies from a representative cross-section of institutions;
- support tools to assist decision makers in planning and implementing environmentally sustainable policies for deploying and managing ICT investments, and for change in practices that promote sustainable behaviours;
- a comprehensive report on the level of institutions' strategic engagement with environmentally sustainable ICT issues, examples of institutional innovation in delivering environmentally sustainable benefits, and an investigation of the role that shared services approaches have to play in addressing environmental sustainability issues.
The deadline for receipt of proposals is 1300 hours on Thursday 25 October 2007. Funding of up to £100,000 (inclusive of VAT and related travel and subsistence) is available for the study.
The expected start date for the study is 26 November 2007. the study should take place over a maximum period of twelve months.
